Today I made another principal payment towards our truck loan! I sent in a total of $291.40, with $61.35 being the amount I would expect our payroll tax to increase in January. Might as well not throw it away this last month. January 1 it is going back to the government. In our case this will first show on our January 15 paycheck. Our new truck loan balance is $6,227.64. Hooray!! We are waiting for $539 rewards check from Chase which as I've mentioned will go straight to...

DePaul Gay and Lesbian Office Site Links to Pro-Gay ?Marriage ...

The Facebook site of the Office of LGBTQA Student Services?at DePaul?University is filled with gay ?marriage? propaganda and even links to a site that urges Facebook to?recognize the Polyamorous.

The Office of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Questioning, Queer and Ally (LGBTQA) Student Services at DePaul University was created as an effort by the university to create a ?more comprehensive approach to supporting LGBTQ?students on campus? and boasts that ?the?Office of LGBTQA Student Services will also allow the university to continue its evolution and become a more?progressive, diverse, and supportive community.?

The DePaul?LGBTQA Student Service?s Facebook site links to a news report of Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel saying ?The time is now? for gay ?marriage,? shares a poster congratulating Spain for legalizing gay ?marriage? and even urged people to vote for gay ?marriage??on election day saying ?support equality!?

The Office of LGBTQA Student Services site also links to a site called ?Polyamory for Facebook? that?urges Facebook to allow more than one name in the relationship status box as a way of being sensitive to those who take part in polyamorous relationships. That site explains it this way:

This page is created for awareness & love. The thought behind it is that Facebook does not have the option to add more th(a)n one person to your relationship status, also the option of open relationship does not suit the nature of polyamorous?relationships. So my suggestion is, promote this page, & write the staff of face book letting them know we want the features added. The ability to add more th(a)n one person & a general Poly relationship status.

DePaul did not respond to questions from The Cardinal Newman Society.

PFT: Honey Badger to enter NFL draft

KaepGetty Images

Before Thursday, I hadn?t heard of David Whitley.? I now have.? And my first impression of his work isn?t good.

In a possible attempt by a pair of dying brands to regain relevance in a world with more digital options than eyeballs to consume them, Whitley has penned a so-stodgy-it?s-edgy column for the AOL/Sporting News that criticizes Colin Kaepernick?s ink.

Crafted carefully (for the most part) to avoid legitimate complaints of racism, Whitley?s implicit message arguably could be boiled down thusly:? He prefers NFL quarterbacks to be white, or to at least act white.

In the interests of clarity and fairness, Whitley didn?t say that.? But that?s the sense I got while reading his words, including:

1.? ?He is the CEO of a high-profile organization, and you don?t want your CEO to look like he just got paroled.?

2.? ?For dinosaurs like me, NFL quarterbacks were our little Dutch boys.?

3.? ?It?s not just a white thing, I hope.?

I?m not even sure what the last sentence means.? Reading the full column in one continuous chunk of words, it feels like he?s lamenting the disappearance of the good old days, when quarterbacks were not only tattoo-free but also pigment-free.

Regardless of Whitley?s conscious or subconscious motivations, Kaepernick?s parents aren?t happy that their adopted son has been compared to prison inmates.

?It annoyed me,? Teresa Kaepernick told USA Today.? ?You are categorizing this kid on something like tattoos?? Really?? Saying other guys are role models because they don?t have them?? Really?? Some of these other guys don?t have crystal clear reputations.? That?s how you?re going to define this kid?? It?s pretty irritating, but it is what it is.?

?This guy has probably never talked to Colin,? Rick Kaepernick said.? ?Instead of saying that Colin does all these great things and donates his time to children, this guy is going to make him out like a gangster.? Really??

I?m no stranger to the criticism that flows in response to opinions that reflect old-school attitudes that come, for example, from the days when the husbands smoked cigarettes and read Life magazine while watching Walter Cronkite in the waiting room as their kids were being born.? But the idea that quarterbacks shouldn?t have tattooed arms has no relevance to anything that would be remotely relevant to playing the sport of football, at any level.

Except for folks who prefer their quarterbacks to be fair-haired and fair-skinned, or at a minimum to behave as if they are.

Sodexo and La Poste Combine to Serve French Military Abroad

ISSY-LES-MOULINEAUX, France--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Regulatory News:

Sodexo (PARIS:SW) (OTCBB:SDXAY) and the French post office, La Poste, announced the creation of a consortium to provide postal services (collection, transport and distribution of mail and parcels) for the 19,000 men and women serving on French military bases abroad. Both organizations expressed great pride in having been entrusted with providing vital support to France?s soldiers and the Ministry of Defense.

The four-year contract awarded to La Poste ? Sodexo consortium resulted from a competitive process launched by the Ministry in 2010 for the provision of customized postal services for the armed forces.

The contract represents a new and unique approach for both partners, based on their complementary expertise: La Poste?s mail and package handling capabilities and Sodexo?s long experience in delivering high quality on-site services to clients operating in extreme environments, including support for military bases, temporary detachments and peacekeeping missions. The consortium?s offer thus represents a customized response, covering transport to distribution of parcels and letters, training for mail clerks and Sodexo teams on postal operations and setting up post offices from scratch in hostile operating theaters.

Salvator Erba, La Poste?s Director for Public Sector Market Large Accounts, said: "La Poste is proud to confirm its role as a natural partner to the Ministry of Defense and delighted to support the French armed forces in their various theaters of operations and at French Naval facilities; we look forward to ensuring the link between French troops and their families through a totally innovative approach, leveraging the expertise of La Poste and its teams.?

Sodexo Vice President for Defense, Continental Europe, Veronika Roux, said: "It is an honor for Sodexo to help support postal service for French military bases abroad. For military service personnel, the mail and parcels they exchange with their loved ones has a major influence on the quality of their daily lives. Through its expertise and understanding of the demands of military life gained through years of experience, Sodexo is able to offer integrated services that improve quality of life for armed forces women and men around the world."

Syrian planes bomb factory in north, many killed

BEIRUT (AP) ? Activists say Syrian warplanes have bombed an olive press factory in the country's north, killing and wounding dozens of people.

Two activist groups ? the Britain-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights and the Local Coordination Committees ? say the factory is west of the city of Idlib.

The LCC says at least 20 people were killed and many others wounded in Tuesday's raid, while the Observatory says "tens were killed or wounded."

Both groups depend on a network of activists on the ground around the country.

President Bashar Assad's regime has been launching intense raids on rebels in recent months.

Syria's conflict started in March 2011 as an uprising against Assad's regime, but quickly morphed into a civil war that has since killed more than 40,000 people, according to activists.

After Cyber Monday frenzy, Giving Tuesday taps the quiet impulse to give

Giving Tuesday, launched by New York's 92nd Street Y, the United Nations Foundation, and 2,000 corporate and nonprofit partners, aims to make giving as fixed a holiday feature as shopping.

By Gloria Goodale,?Staff writer / November 27, 2012

Packages ready to ship move along a conveyor belt at the Amazon.com fulfillment center in Phoenix on Nov. 26, expected to be the biggest online shopping day in history. Giving Tuesday, launched today, aims to put the focus on charitable giving.

Ross D. Franklin/AP

Name days are the newest holiday trend, but don?t worry if you didn?t know that Nov. 27 is Giving Tuesday. This is the kickoff year for what may seem self-evident ? a day of being charitable with your dollars rather than ticking off items from your shopping list.

While many people already include charitable giving in their regular holiday gifting, organizers hope that Giving Tuesday will launch a new kind of seasonal money madness that makes giving a big part of early and regular money outflow for everyone.

Giving Tuesday is the brainchild of New York?s 92nd?Street Y, which trademarked the handle. It teamed up with the United Nations Foundation to leverage its broader clout. Before launch, Giving Tuesday had nearly 2,000 partners, corporate and nonprofit alike, cheerleading the idea into the national ? and global ? consciousness via the website, givingtuesday.org.

Bill Gates tweeted, ?Everyone knows about #BlackFriday & #CyberMonday. Now help me spread the word about #GivingTuesday.?

By midday Tuesday, nonprofits and corporations alike were waving the flag in support of the idea, using Facebook pages and Twitter feeds.

Some might question the wisdom of asking for donations just as consumers are responding to the barrage of early shopping deals from Black Friday and what is now being called Cyber Week. But just as the early bird gets the $78 flat screen TV, early reminders about what is truly important might help to change the way people give throughout the entire season, says Devin Hermanson, senior marketing director for World Vision, one of the early supporters of Giving Tuesday.

?My blue sky idea is that one day you will report that Giving Tuesday eclipsed both Black Friday and Cyber Monday,? he says with a laugh, ?Why can?t we aspire to that??

According to a new Harris Interactive Poll commissioned by World Vision, some 83 percent of Americans do aspire to donate to charity, yet when asked the more practical question of will they give this holiday season, the number actually dropped from 51 percent in 2011 to 45 percent this November.

This week's forecast: Sunny with a 40 percent chance of flu

ScienceDaily (Nov. 26, 2012) ? New computer model takes a page from weather forecasting to predict regional peaks in influenza outbreaks

Scientists have developed a system to predict the timing and severity of seasonal influenza outbreaks that could one day help health officials and the general public better prepare for them. The system adapts techniques used in modern weather prediction to turn real-time, Web-based estimates of influenza infection into local forecasts of seasonal flu.

Results appear online in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences.

Year to year, and region to region, there is huge variability in the peak of flu season, which, in temperate areas of the Northern Hemisphere, can happen as early as October or as late as April. The forecast system can provide "a window into what can happen week to week as flu prevalence rises and falls," says Jeffrey Shaman, PhD, an assistant professor of Environmental Health Sciences at Columbia University's Mailman School of Public Health.

As a test case, Dr. Shaman and Alicia Karspeck, PhD, of the National Center for Atmospheric Research, used Web-based estimates of flu-related sickness from the 2003-2008 influenza seasons in New York City to retrospectively generate weekly flu forecasts and found that the technique could predict the peak timing of the outbreak more than seven weeks in advance of the actual peak.

In the future, such flu forecasts might conceivably be disseminated on the local television news along with the weather report, says Dr. Shaman. Like the weather, flu conditions vary from region to region; Atlanta might peak weeks ahead of Anchorage. "Because we are all familiar with weather broadcasts, when we hear that there is a 80% chance of rain, we all have an intuitive sense of whether or not we should carry an umbrella," says Dr. Shaman. "I expect we will develop a similar comfort level and confidence in flu forecasts and develop an intuition of what we should do to protect ourselves in response to different forecast outcomes."

As individuals, a flu forecast could prompt us to get a vaccine, exercise care around people sneezing and coughing, and better tune in to how we feel. For health officials, it could inform decisions on how many vaccines and antiviral drugs to stockpile, and in the case of a virulent outbreak, whether other measures, like closing schools, is necessary.

"Flu forecasting has the potential to significantly improve our ability to prepare for and manage the seasonal flu outbreaks that strike each year," says Irene Eckstrand, PhD, of the National Institutes of Health's National Institute of General Medical Sciences, which provided funding for the study.

Worldwide, influenza kills an estimated 250,000 to 500,000 people each year; in the U.S. about 35,000 die from the flu every year.

The seed of the new study was planted four years ago in a conversation between the two researchers, in which Dr. Shaman expressed an interest in using models to forecast influenza. Dr. Karspeck "recommended incorporating some of the data assimilation techniques used in weather forecasting to build a skillful prediction system" remembers Dr. Shaman.

In weather forecasting real-time observational data are used to "nudge the model to conform with reality and reduce error in the model simulations," he explains. Applying this method to flu forecasting, the researchers used near-real-time data from Google Flu Trends, which estimates outbreaks based on the number of flu-related search queries in a given region.

Going forward, Dr. Shaman will test the model in other localities across the country using up-to-date data. This is necessary, he says, since "there is no guarantee that just because the method works in New York it will work in Miami."

Funding for the research was provided by the National Institutes of Health (grant numbers GM100467, GM088558 and ES009089) and the Department of Homeland Security.

Project: Make an Advent calendar garland - Tropic Home and Family

Project: Make an Advent calendar garlandAdvent Calendar garland

Make an Advent Calendar garland

Advent ? the days of December leading up to Christmas ? isn?t something I grew up celebrating. The idea of an Advent calendar was lost on me. Now that Advent calendars seem so commonplace, though, I can see how fun they are for kids. Children are just so excited thinking about Christmas, and the practice of opening a little door, box or envelope every day seems to make that anticipation even more special.

Most of the Advent calendars I?ve seen have little treats or toys hiding behind doors or inside drawers. When I heard about what some online friends were doing to spread good cheer, so to speak, in their communities, I thought that would be better to do with my family than give just another treat or toy. And when I saw this digital template to make tiny envelopes and tickets for Advent, I knew this was the perfect combo.

The December Days Advent Calendar is something you can download and add your own digital papers to, then print out, cut and assemble. (I used the Winter Wonderland paper digital scrapbooking kit here.) It?s a wonderful hybrid digital/papercraft project that older children can help make. I used mini clips to keep the envelopes in place on the ribbon.

An Advent calendar garland can go on your tree or across a wall or shelf

An Advent calendar garland can go on your tree or across a wall or shelf

If you don?t want to download a template and fool with image software, though, you can make your own tiny envelopes and inserts with holiday paper from your local craft store. Just trace an envelope shape on the paper, cut, fold and hang on a ribbon or other garland.

Inside each envelope (one for each day of Advent) is a ticket or slip or paper that has an idea for how to celebrate Advent that day. Here are some ideas we have had:

1. Read a picture book about the Christmas story, or read from the Bible (the book of Luke, chapter 2, verses 1-20).
2. Decorate your home/tree.
3. Take a box of hot, fresh coffee to firefighters or other community workers.
4. Make Christmas cookies.
5. Visit an elderly or disabled relative or neighbor with a small gift.
6. Sing a few Christmas songs. Go caroling if you?re brave!
7. Find out when your favorite holiday shows are going to be on TV, and watch it together one night. (You?ll have to check ahead of time and make this ticket for the right day so it goes in the correct day?s envelope.)
8. Go through toys and clothes you own and find at least three nice, useable things you can donate. Then, go together to donate them to Goodwill or another charitable resale shop, or a shelter.
9. Drive around your neighborhood to look at lights. Local newspapers often highlight the most interesting homes.
10. Visit a natural area your family loves, and clean up any trash you see there. (We just might go to the beach!)
11. Take a family photo.
12. Color a few Christmas pages, or make paper snowflakes. Then give them to someone who could use a pick-me-up from the kids.
13. See a matinee of a new movie. (My husband can?t wait to see The Hobbit.)
14. Go ice skating. (Yes, we have ice arenas in Florida!)
15. Make a Christmas craft out of something you already own ?recycling! ? or out of found objects.
16. Pay for someone else?s purchase when you are at the store in line, or at a drive-through restaurant or coffee shop.
17. Go to the mall to look at the decorations and/or visit Santa Claus. (We make a special trip to a mall an hour?s drive away to see a spectacular model train layout just for the holidays!)
18. Play in the snow. Or in our case, the sand.
19. Visit a wildlife center or animal shelter and bring an item to donate ? check their sites or call to find out what they need.
20. My family buys a new Christmas album every year. Put on some Christmas music and do something together as a family ? have dinner or play a board game.
21. Visit a playground to play and bring bottles of water to share with everyone. Bonus points if you decorate the bottles with stickers, ribbons or bows!
22. Invite someone ahead of time to go to Christmas Eve services with your family.
23. Enjoy a local holiday event ? a tree-lighting ceremony, live nativity, festival, etc.
24. Make new tree ornaments with the kids. (Find lots of ideas on Pinterest.)
25. Help kids make holiday cards for their teachers.
26. (Bonus!) Join in a Christmas Bird Count event.

We don?t have a lot of food-related ideas because of food allergies, but we do have our share of treats for special occasions.

There are so many fun Advent calendars to choose from! This garland is customizable every year and also decorates the Christmas tree. A tradition I wish I?d grown up with!

Resident Evil: Revelations listed for consoles | Games industry news ...

A console port for Capcom's well received 3DS effort Resident Evil: Revelations appears to be in the works for Playstation 3 and Xbox 360.

Eurogamer reports PS3 and 360 versions of the game were recently listed on the Korean Ratings Board.

Revelations launched earlier this year on 3DS, and if the ports do come about, they?ll likely be the last of this console generation for the franchise. The next major title is likely a long while off, following last month?s release of Resident Evil 6.

Capcom has thus far declined to comment on the matter.

Rating: 5.0/5 (1 vote cast)

Effective Skin Care Tips For Glowing Skin A beautiful skin does not need expensive skin care products. It rather needs adequate care and attention on a regular basis. By ?adequate care and attention?, we mean taking care of skin according to the changing weather, lifestyle and age specific needs on a constant basis. Here, we present you 10 most effective skin care tips that will stand your skin in good stead forever.

Skin Care Tips for Glowing Skin

Use Sunscreen

Unprotected exposure to sunlight leads to premature ageing, hyper pigmentation, wrinkles and even skin cancer. Sunburns and tans indicate a damaged skin which needs to be shielded with sunscreen on regular basis. Wear a broad spectrum sunscreen throughout the year, which protects your skin from both ? UVA and UVB rays.

Apply sunscreen 20 minutes prior to stepping out of home on all the exposed parts of your body. Even when you stay indoors, don?t forget to slather your daily dose of sunscreen.

Moisturize Properly

A dry skin is a sure shot guarantee of prematurely old and sagging skin. If you want your skin to be taut and youthful than it is very important to moisturize your skin. Even if you don?t have a dry skin, it will be good to moisturize yourself with a water based lotion on regular basis. If you have dry skin than you can go for oil based moisturizer immediately after bath when the skin is still moist and is able to hold the moisture for longer periods.

On the other hand, in order to provide moisture from environment to your skin when it gets too dry, it is important to run a humidifier in the room, especial in the bed room at night time. Besides, always ensure to use some good quality moisturizing soaps and hand washes to avoid dryness on hands.

Exfoliate Regularly

If your skin is very dry than it will be wise to exfoliate once in a week. Exfoliation helps in unclogging the blocked pores, remove dead skin cells and helps in better absorption of moisturizer.

Effective Skin Care Tips For Glowing Skin

Too much of exfoliation can lead to damaged skin so be gentle with your skin while exfoliating. If you have normal to oily skin than you can exfoliate up to two times a week. Use a good quality moisturizer immediately after exfoliating for a glowing skin.

Sleep with a Makeup Free Face

To sleep with make up on is one of the biggest beauty crimes. Never sleep with make up on your face because it leads to clogging of pores, oxygen deprived and lifeless skin and premature ageing of facial skin. Always use a good quality face wash for removing the makeup. For removing eye makeup, use baby oil or cleanser meant for removing eye makeup.

Eat Nutritious Foods

Basically how our skin looks depends on our genes, our environment and our food. While we can?t do much about our environment and our genes, we can certainly take care of our food and can dramatically change the texture of our skin and can look beautiful.

This can be achieved by eating low fat and highly nutritious foods like fruits, vegetables, whole grains, low fat dairy products, lean meats, low fat sea foods, etc. Cutting on refined flours, sugar, cigarettes and alcohol can make a dramatic difference to our looks. Foods containing vitamin C, E, A and H are especially beneficial for our skin since these vitamins are building blocks of our skin.

Exercise Consistently

While everyone knows that exercising is good for health, not everyone is aware that consistency in exercises is very important for getting best results. You should exercise at least 4 times a week for 45 minutes.

Effective Skin Care Tips For Glowing Skin

Exercising helps in removing toxins from the body, releases endorphins- the feel good chemicals in body, helps in melting the fat and gives our skin a natural glow which cannot be achieved through cosmetics or beauty products. You can include a variety of exercises in your fitness regimen like aerobics, yoga, strength training, Pilates, stretches, cardio-vascular exercises like jogging, running, swimming, etc.

Stay Away from Stress

No amount of beauty products can improve a stressed skin and hence the best beauty bet is to stay away from stress. Somehow, this seems to be impossible in today?s age of hectic lifestyles. In such a scenario, learn to manage stress. You can learn meditation, breathing exercises or can enroll in one of your favorite hobbies to stay away from stress. A stress free skin can ooze real beauty and glow and can make your friends envy with you.

Go for Regular Facials

A facial is a complete package of skin care for your face. It takes care of deep pore cleaning, scrubbing, massaging and applying a suitable face pack on your face. Regular facials very well take care of facial skin and give it a beautiful glow. It is important to choose a well trained and well experienced beauty professional who can assess your skin type well and can give you an appropriate facial accordingly.

Effective Skin Care Tips For Glowing Skin

Hygiene is a very important factor while considering facials. Ask your beautician to use properly washed napkins and sterilized equipments while performing a facial. Use of dirty lines and equipments can lead to skin infections and can do more bad than good for your skin.

Dry Body Exfoliation

You must have heard that toxins are bad for our health and beauty and detoxing body can be a single great strategy for looking good. Apart from detoxing through diet, detoxing can be done through dry body exfoliation also. You can do dry body exfoliation before taking a bath.

You will need a dry body exfoliation brush for the same. Just start from your foot and work your way up to enhance the blood circulation and eliminate the toxins.

Drink Adequate Amount of Water

While everyone drinks adequate amount of water during summers, we tend to drink less amount of water during winters. Drinking adequate amounts of water is very important to eliminate waste products and maintain general health of body cells. A dehydrated body shows itself through shrinking and lifeless skin hence it is important to drink at least 8 glasses of water during winters also to maintain a plump and youthful look throughout the year.

These tips can help you achieve a beautiful skin for lifetime.

Egypt's Mursi faces judicial revolt over new powers

CAIRO (Reuters) - Egyptian President Mohamed Mursi faced a rebellion from judges who accused him on Saturday of expanding his powers at their expense, deepening a crisis that has triggered violence in the street and exposed the country's deep divisions.

The Judges' Club, a body representing judges across Egypt, called for a strike during a meeting interrupted with chants demanding the "downfall of the regime" - the rallying cry in the uprising that toppled Hosni Mubarak last year.

Mursi's political opponents and supporters, representing the divide between newly empowered Islamists and their critics, called for rival demonstrations on Tuesday over a decree that has triggered concern in the West.

Issued late on Thursday, it marks an effort by Mursi to consolidate his influence after he successfully sidelined Mubarak-era generals in August. The decree defends from judicial review decisions taken by Mursi until a new parliament is elected in a vote expected early next year.

It also shields the Islamist-dominated assembly writing Egypt's new constitution from a raft of legal challenges that have threatened the body with dissolution, and offers the same protection to the Islamist-controlled upper house of parliament.

Egypt's highest judicial authority, the Supreme Judicial Council, said the decree was an "unprecedented attack" on the independence of the judiciary. The Judges' Club, meeting in Cairo, called on Mursi to rescind it.

That demand was echoed by prominent opposition leader Mohamed ElBaradei. "There is no room for dialogue when a dictator imposes the most oppressive, abhorrent measures and then says 'let us split the difference'," he said.

"I am waiting to see, I hope soon, a very strong statement of condemnation by the U.S., by Europe and by everybody who really cares about human dignity," he said in an interview with Reuters and the Associated Press.

More than 300 people were injured on Friday as protests against the decree turned violent. There were attacks on at least three offices belonging to the Muslim Brotherhood, the movement that propelled Mursi to power.

POLARISATION

Liberal, leftist and socialist parties called a big protest for Tuesday to force Mursi to row back on a move they say has exposed the autocratic impulses of a man once jailed by Mubarak.

In a sign of the polarization in the country, the Muslim Brotherhood called its own protests that day to support the president's decree.

Mursi also assigned himself new authority to sack the prosecutor general, who was appointed during the Mubarak era, and appoint a new one. The dismissed prosecutor general, Abdel Maguid Mahmoud, was given a hero's welcome at the Judges' Club.

In open defiance of Mursi, Ahmed al-Zind, head of the club, introduced Mahmoud by his old title.

The Mursi administration has defended the decree on the grounds that it aims to speed up a protracted transition from Mubarak's rule to a new system of democratic government.

Analysts say it reflects the Brotherhood's suspicion towards sections of a judiciary unreformed from Mubarak's days.

"It aims to sideline Mursi's enemies in the judiciary and ultimately to impose and head off any legal challenges to the constitution," said Elijah Zarwan, a fellow with The European Council on Foreign Relations.

"We are in a situation now where both sides are escalating and its getting harder and harder to see how either side can gracefully climb down."

ADVISOR TO MURSI QUITS

Following a day of violence in Cairo, Alexandria, Port Said and Suez, the smell of tear gas hung over the capital's Tahrir Square, the epicentre of the uprising that toppled Mubarak in 2011 and the stage for more protests on Friday.

Youths clashed sporadically with police near the square, where activists camped out for a second day on Saturday, setting up makeshift barricades to keep out traffic.

Al-Masry Al-Youm, one of Egypt's most widely read dailies, hailed Friday's protest as "The November 23 Intifada", invoking the Arabic word for uprising.

But the ultra-orthodox Salafi Islamist groups that have been pushing for tighter application of Islamic law in the new constitution have rallied behind Mursi's decree.

The Nour Party, one such group, stated its support for the Mursi decree. Al-Gama'a al-Islamiya, which carried arms against the state in the 1990s, said it would save the revolution from what it described as remnants of the Mubarak regime.

Samir Morkos, a Christian assistant to Mursi, had told the president he wanted to resign, said Yasser Ali, Mursi's spokesman. Speaking to the London-based Asharq Al-Awsat newspaper, Morkos said: "I refuse to continue in the shadow of republican decisions that obstruct the democratic transition".

Mursi's decree has been criticized by Western states that earlier this week were full of praise for his role in mediating an end to the eight-day war between Israel and Palestinians.

"The decisions and declarations announced on November 22 raise concerns for many Egyptians and for the international community," State Department spokeswoman Victoria Nuland said.

The European Union urged Mursi to respect the democratic process.

(AP) ? C.J. Malauulu returned an interception 33 yards for a touchdown ? 12 seconds after another Kent State TD ? and the No. 23 Golden Flashes completed a perfect season in the Mid-American Conference with their 10th straight win, 28-6 over Ohio on Friday.

The regular-season finale was a tuneup for Kent State (11-1, 8-0 MAC), which will meet No. 24 Northern Illinois in next week's MAC championship. The win allowed the Golden Flashes to continue the best season in the program's 90-year history. They are ranked for the first time since 1972, the last time they appeared in a bowl game.

Trayion Durham rushed for 97 yards and scored on a 15-yard run in the first quarter to put Kent State ahead 14-0.

On Ohio's next play, Malauulu picked off Tyler Tettleton and scored.

The Bobcats (8-4, 4-4) lost four of their last five after cracking the Top 25.

With representatives from the Military and GoDaddy.com bowls on hand, the Golden Flashes put on a dazzling show early before the game bogged down into a puntfest. But Kent State took advantage of Ohio's mistakes in the opening quarter and did enough to pad its bowl resume.

The Golden Flashes entered the season hoping to build on a strong finish in 2011, when they won four of their last five.

But no one could have expected such a dramatic turnaround in coach Darrell Hazell's second season, which will have at least two more games.

Kent State is the first MAC East school to go 8-0 in conference play since 2003, when Miami did it behind senior quarterback Ben Roethlisberger.

The Golden Flashes came in leading all FBS schools in turnover margin, and they wasted little time forcing the Bobcats, who seemed sleepy with an 11 a.m. kickoff, to cough up the ball.

Kent State scored two defensive touchdowns in the first quarter ? one on a 50-yard fumble return, the other on Malauulu's pick ? to stun Ohio and open a 21-0 lead.

Just 12 seconds after Durham's 15-yard burst, aided by some bad tackling, made it 14-0, Malauulu, a senior from Oceanside, Calif., picked off Tettleton in the middle of the field. He found some blocks down the left sideline and dived inside the front pylon for the score, which survived a video replay.

Earlier, Malauulu stripped running back Beau Blankenship and Kent State's Luke Wollet fielded a one-hopper off the turf and sprinted half the field to make it 7-0.

Ohio managed a 33-yard field goal by Matt Weller to close the quarter, but the Bobcats were down 18 despite outgaining the Golden Flashes, running more than twice as many offensive plays and holding the ball for eight more minutes.

Weller's 41-yard field goal with 15 seconds left before halftime trimmed Kent State's lead to 21-6 and sent Ohio's players to the locker room with some confidence after being on the verge of a blowout loss.

But the Bobcats, who also hurt themselves with penalties in the first half, couldn't get anything going on offense after halftime. Still, they were hanging around in the fourth quarter before Kent State's Spencer Keith hit Eric Adeyemi for a 24-yard TD to make it 28-6.

Following the game, Kent State's players paused on the way to the locker room and each rang a victory bell.

Once ignored, the Golden Flashes are making some noise.

Columbus, OH (Vocus/PRWEB) April 12, 2011

If theres a time on the calendar people look forward to, its barefoot season especially in the northern climates where it seems like boot season will never end. But whether its dreams of long walks on the beach or just padding around the yard, a little extra care of feet and ankles can keep people healthy and mobile all season long.

Dr. Terrence M. Philbin, board-certified orthopedic surgeon and co-founder of FootSourceMD, says going barefoot is nothing to be rushed into. We all need to give ourselves time to adapt to the stresses of walking without shoes, and folks with Diabetes need to take extra precautions to avoid injury.

Dr. Philbin explains that over the winter, feet lose their natural strength. Our ankles and arches grow accustomed to being cooped up in boots and tight fitting shoes, and as a result, our feet grow de-conditioned.

As a result, by the time barefoot season arrives, feet are hardly ready for flimsy flip-flops let alone long walks.

This is why Dr. Philbin advises easing into going barefoot, gradually strengthening the muscles and tendons that support the ankle and arch. Start slow, taking short walks without shoes, and allowing periods of recovery. After a few weeks of spending more and more time on your bare or stocking feet, you should be ready for a typical walk on the beach. Yet even for people with conditioned feet, Dr. Philbin encourages frequent rest breaks, and taking the time to cultivate a healthy awareness of the dangers and benefits of walking on sand.

Many athletic programs and fitness advocates have observed the benefits of training in the sand; the natural cushioning and slight surface instability have been shown to build strength for intense running. Sand running isnt for the novice runner or a person with Diabetes, but for a person who has reached a high level of fitness, it can yield great rewards.

Elite athletes are especially aware of the dangers of sand: unprotected feet are prone to injury from sharp stones or glass and metal debris, and exposure to hot, abrasive sand or pavement can also dry out the skin, causing sores to develop.

More seriously, for a person with Diabetes experiencing the effects of nerve damage or neuropathy, the hazards of going barefoot might not be felt until its too late, points out Dr. Philbin. Hes seen how foot sores can become open and infected, and how glass can become embedded in a foot, resulting in dangerous infection, lost toes or worse.

Dr. Philbin advises people with Diabetes to take care to examine his or her feet each and every time going barefoot, ideally with the help of a mirror or another set of eyes. But to be truly safe, the truth can hurt: Due to the risks, says Dr. Philbin, a person with Diabetes should avoid going barefoot altogether.

Thankfully, theres still an option that indulges the sense of summer freedom: sandals.

Diabetic Crocs, specifically the Crocs Unisex Cloud, are beneficial, providing aeration to keep the feet cool and dry, as well as toe protection and arch support, says Dr. Philbin, stressing that only Diabetic Crocs deliver these benefits. A person with Diabetes will still want to consider wearing specialty socks, says Dr. Philbin. These provide necessary compression and support, and provide an extra layer of protection.

Many sandals found at the department store or gift shop dont provide the support necessary to promote healthy feet, but there are several styles available that are designed with arch and ankle support in mind. These include sandals made by Aravon, Ziera and Dunham.

According to Dr. Philbin, people with a favorite pair of sandals neednt worry. Providing its not a cheap flip flop, most sandals can accommodate many insoles and arch supports. A breathable ankle brace can be used, too.

However people enjoy the warm weather, there are plenty of ways to keep feet happy and healthy. And with the right care, come fall, a person can have enough memories of summer walks to carry them clear through to next barefoot season.

T-Mobile stores starting to carry microSIM adapters

Micro SIM and Adapters

In a quest to lure unlocked device users to its network, T-Mobile is becoming even more SIM-swap friendly by offering microSIM adapters in-store. Most recent devices, like the shiny new Nexus 4, are coming out only accepting microSIM cards. Unfortunately, every other device you have -- Galaxy Nexus or Nexus S, perhaps -- probably still has a miniSIM (what we often call a "normal" SIM.) Once you cut yours down, its not always the best choice to try and go back without an adapter. T-Mobile knows this, and now looks to be offering its own micro-to-mini SIM adapters in store for just $4.99.

It's no secret that T-Mobile is trying to appeal to the frequent device switcher, and this is just one more thing they can do to be friendlier to someone bringing their own devices to the network. We're not entirely sure when these will start showing up in a large number of stores, but we wouldn't expect it to take long.

Greatly outperforming the business rental market, the commercial mortgage has achieved proven success across the board. However, in light of the recent economic struggle; business owners have refrained from initiating any form of expansion be it via property or staff and any form of lending be it a commercial mortgage or otherwise, why? The lack of government action and the declining trust of the banking authorities in the small business have created a volatile commercial market leaving the small business owner asking one question?

How can my business afford a commercial mortgage?

How Can A Commercial Mortgage Help?

The commercial mortgage stands out as the clear leader and has proven to have helped businesses of all industries achieve a degree of fundamental success and can help to achieve the same results for any business, however small it may be:

  • Providing vital funds for business expansion
  • Providing a needed cash injection
  • Allow for comfortable business growth
  • Cost reduction
  • Increased Profitability
  • Remain a leader in your industry

How Can My Business Be Deemed A Suitable Commercial Mortgage Candidate?

In light of the recent gravy train scandal, trust in banks has greatly diminished and borrowers are now, more than ever, wary of whom they seek financial aid from. As the result of the flailing confidence, the alternative lender has grown greatly in popularity and is now deemed the ultimate source for commercial finance.

In order to provide your business with the suitable financial injection; a commercial mortgage broker will, despite any previous loan rejection, clearly and concisely analyse your business finances, history and plans in an effort to determine your real loan credibility and whether; in the face of any future financial strain, your business will be able to withstand the pressure of monthly mortgage repayments.

The risk of default will always remain at the forefront of the decision made by a mortgage broker and using specific markers, lenders will thoroughly assess the qualifying factors of a borrower.

Loan to Value Ratio- A key factor used to assess potential borrowers, the LTV ratio is a figure concluded by dividing the borrowed sum by the property value. The lower the figure, the greater the suitability of the client.

Debt Service Coverage Ratio- Another key factor used to assess potential borrowers, the DSCR is a protective barrier sum formed by dividing NOI by monthly interest and mortgage payments. The higher the DSCR figure, the lower the client risk.

How Will I Be Required To Repay The Borrowed Sum?

If, using one of the aforementioned markers, you have been deemed suitable; the mortgage broker will grant your business the desired sum you wish to borrow however an agreement will need to be settled.

A commercial mortgage is often loaned for a period of between fifteen to twenty years and as the borrower you will be required to repay an agreed monthly sum; this sum will be determined by the type of mortgage you chose to select:

  • Variable rate- A risky option with varying payments
  • Fixed Rate- The safest option, with consistent payments
  • Interest Only- A financially desirable option, allowing the borrower to lower overall loan interest.

Dependent upon the type of mortgage you chose to opt for; you will be required , under any and all circumstances, to make your monthly payments without fail. Should you fail to repay your mortgage, your account will fall into default however your financial broker will have prepared for the worst during the initial application process and will have ensured that all risks are minimised.

How Can I Be Sure I Will Not Face Hidden Charges?

Nothing can be more damaging to a business then any hidden financial charges; however in contrast to the cloudy agreements offered by the banking authorities, a commercial mortgage broker will ensure complete transparency throughout the entire process.

In the hands of the right broker, all charges and all fees will be made abundantly clear before you sign on the dotted line.

As the middle man working between clients and a portfolio of lenders; the success of a commercial mortgage broker will only lay in the success of client dealings.

Who Do I Need To Talk To?

As with anything and everything in business; you must scour the market to search the right deal and the right lender for your business. Although the high street lender may seem like the easier option, your business could potentially and quite greatly benefit from seeking financial aid from an independent source.

An impartial and specialist commercial mortgage broker will scour the market to search for the ideal solution to suit your business and will ensure you have access to the best rates and the most appropriate solutions.

Will I Need To Provide Anything?

During the commercial mortgage application process, many lenders will require specific information to secure your lending:

  • Financial history of the business for a minimum of three years
  • Business Plans
  • Miscellaneous Information

Once in possession of the required information; a specialist financial lender will begin processing your application and determine whether a commercial mortgage is the right financial solution for your business.

If in need of financial assistance then why not consider a commercial mortgage as the financial route for your business?
