I love dips and spreads so is it any wonder that I regularly feature them on ThingsThatWeDo.com? I?ve also learned along the way that not all dips and spreads are created equal. Some sound promising and turn out to be complete let downs. Others, surprise me and wow me. Well, allow me to introduce you to Sunflower Kitchen and their Jerusalem Hummus. I?ve never had it before but it caught my eye during a recent holiday trip. I like eating donairs and shwarmas so I?m kind of hoping this will add some vibrant kick to my morning breakfast routine, especially while I?m taking a much needed break. Who knows?
Product Review: What are the ingredients in the Sunflower Kitchen Jerusalem Hummus?
Call me silly but this would be the first time that I had ever heard of Sunflower Kitchen. Then again, how often do I travel? (Don?t ask, I hate packing and anything remotely related to packing).
Take a look at the list of ingredients for this Sunflower Kitchen Jerusalem Hummus: chick peas, tahini (sesame paste), filtered water, sunflower oil, garlic, parsley, herbs, citric acid, sea salt, spices. I have no idea what the ?herbs? and ?spices? are but I?m confident that the list is a good one since I did a little online research on the Sunflower Kitchen website and learned that their products are made with natural ingredients, are free of preservatives, are transfat free, non GMO (thank goodness) and contain no artificial flavours or additives. For those interested, their products are also vegetarian or vegan and dairy free.
Product review: how does the Sunflower Kitchen Jerusalem Hummus taste?
For the record, my kid is not a big fan of the dips and spreads that I test out for ThingsThatWeDo.com. Often times, she claims she can?t stand how they smell. Yet, she tolerates them nonetheless and who knows, maybe one day, she?ll be asking to try out a dip or two.
On this occasion, my kid reacts the exact same way she does to all the dips I test. She plugs her nose and carries on with her breakfast. Mommy on the other hand, can?t wait to taste this Sunflower Kitchen Jerusalem Hummus. I crack it open and it looks just like you would expect hummus to look (obviously) so it really now comes down to flavour.
I spread some of the Sunflower Kitchen Jerusalem Hummus on to my slice of rye bread and dig in. YUM O! Unlike other classic hummus dips which to me, taste a little flat, this Sunflower Kitchen Jerusalem Hummus has a definite vibrant kick to it. It?s got the flavour profile of regular hummus but it?s seriously jazzed up from the parsley and herbs. The Sunflower Kitchen Jerusalem Hummus is tart and tangy yet filling and satisfying. The Sunflower Kitchen Jerusalem Hummus spreads evenly, it?s the perfect consistency and isn?t too watery or too thick. This was one very happy breakfast indeed!
Verdict:
Yep, if you can get your hands on this Sunflower Kitchen Jerusalem Hummus, it?s definitely worth a buy. Now, just because I eat my dips at breakfast, it doesn?t mean you have to. By all means, the Sunflower Kitchen Jerusalem Hummus would taste equally good on your party table dipped into some toasted pita chips or crunchy bread sticks.
The best part is, the price of the Sunflower Kitchen Jerusalem Hummus is comparable to all the other dips that are out there on the market. So, I have to then wonder why Sunflower Kitchen is able to make this Jerusalem Hummus taste so fresh and vibrant while hummus dips from other brands seem so lacklustre? Hmmm?.I feel my feet itching to go back to the fridge for some more Sunflower Kitchen Jerusalem Hummus!
