I always like to experiment with new things, and this video thing seemed like a good idea. So, I made doing these videos part of my New Year?s resolution. (As a guy with passions for health, fitness, and nutrition, I advise against dietary New Year?s resolutions, and recommend personal development goals that ultimately help others. That is, really make an attempt to make yourself a better person from the inside! Those are the most challenging and rewarding to keep anyway.)
Even though I was totally enjoying writing long, involved, detailed, and ultra-wonky blogposts on things that interest me, the reality was I was not always connecting with people. After all, I just assumed that people have the time in their day to read a 2000 word blogpost that is highly technical. Being on the radio with my friend Geoff Pinkus, really helped me realize the importance of brevity and getting straight to the point. If you can say it ten words, then say it in five is an old radio credo. And the fact is, you can apply that principle to a lot of things, including blogging.
And the fact is, in addition to being a bit wordy (or as I might have said previously: voluable) I was not always really being myself. So, one of my New Year?s resolutions for 2013 was also be myself, and stick to what I know best and what I am most passionate about. Hand surgery is definitely one of those things. I will put these out every 1-2 weeks, and I would really like all of your comments. Let me know what you think. What didn?t I address? What wasn?t clear? Let me know. It is a good learning experience for me too!
