Two Osoyoos recreational organizations are receiving Community Gaming Grants, the provincial government announced last week.
The Sun Bowl Figure Skating Club is receiving $9,625 and the Osoyoos International Curling Club is receiving $4,500.
Community Gaming Grants allow non-profit organizations to apply for provincial gaming revenues.
?These grants help local groups continue to offer important services and experiences to local residents,? MLA Linda Larson said in the news release.
In the past fiscal year, about 5,300 community groups across the province receive a total of $135 million in gaming grants.
The Osoyoos-based figure skating club not only introduces dozens of local youngsters to figure skating, but also offers programs to teach them how to skate.
It also attracts young skaters from across the region, including places like Rock Creek and Grand Forks.
The Osoyoos International Curling Club offers competitive leagues for men, women and seniors and also has programs that attempt to introduce junior curlers to the sport.
The curling club has been a big part of the Osoyoos community dating back several decades.
